A UW-River Falls junior studying journalism and criminology has been named the latest winner of the Donovan E. Rasmussen Broadcast Journalism Fellowship.

Through the fellowship, Lexi Janzer of Mayville, Wisconsin, will spend six weeks this summer reporting on crime victim services in western Wisconsin. Her work will be featured in a broadcast documentary.

Janzer is assistant editor of the campus newspaper, the Student Voice, as well as a member of the Student Media Committee.

The fellowship is named in honor of Donovan E. Rasmussen (1922-2009), who in 2006 funded an endowment with the UW-River Falls Foundation to be used by the journalism program.

The first Rasmussen fellow was Brooke Shepherd, who in 2021 reported and produced a broadcast documentary about obesity. Last year, Michelle Stangler for her fellowship worked on a story about dairy farming in western Wisconsin.
