Applications are being accepted now for the 2022 Donovan E. Rasmussen Broadcast Journalism Fellowship, a six-week summer reporting project in which a UW-River Falls journalism major produces a 30-minute audio documentary.
The fellowship includes a $2,000 stipend and up to $500 in expense reimbursement. The fellowship is named for Rasmussen (1922-2009), who in 2006 funded an endowment with the UW-River Falls Foundation to be used by the journalism program.
Last year, Brooke Shepherd completed the inaugural fellowship, producing a broadcast documentary about the problem of obesity in western Wisconsin. The documentary earned a first place award in the news series and documentary category in the annual Student Awards for Excellence sponsored by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 15. More information about the fellowship and the application process are available at uwrfjournalism.org.
