Outside of the University Center at the University Wisconsin River Falls protestors were supporting Supreme Court Justice Candidate Joanne Kloppenberg. This was my first time ever covering a protest. It’s something I would normally not go to, but I found the event very interesting. It was rainy and windy outside and with working for WRFW I am required to have sound. I was nervous my sound quality wouldn’t turn out so I stood very close to the speaker with my recorder covered by my hand to hide it from the rain. However when listening later I thought the gusts of wind happened to add a lot natural sound to the story. It sounded like you were there, at the protest. After creating a story using the sound, I got excited, almost a rush from going outside my comfort zone for a story. This story really helped me open up to other opportunities on campus for stories. One thing I wish I would have done differently is interviewed the activists after the event, however with time crunches, I had to leave for class making it tough to be a student as well as a journalist.
